What's not here

What this website doesn't do.

A short, checkable list of what this site leaves out on purpose: no trackers, no cookies, no third-party scripts, no accounts, no ads. Here is the whole list, and how to check each line yourself.

The short version

This site runs a small amount of its own code. It runs no scripts written by anyone else, sets no cookies, and has no trackers, accounts or ads. None of that is a claim you have to take on faith. Every line below points at something you can check yourself, in a few minutes, on any page.

The whole list

Here is everything we chose not to put into this website, and why each one is on the list.

  • No trackers. No script on this site follows you from page to page or to other sites, and none records what you read. The privacy policy says the same thing in the language a policy uses.
  • No cookies. This site sets none, so there is no banner asking permission for something that was never going to happen.
  • No third-party scripts. Every script on this site is a file we wrote, served from this site's own address. The site's security policy tells your browser to refuse a script from anywhere else.
  • No accounts. Nothing on this website to sign up for, nothing to log into, nothing to lose the password to.
  • No ads. Nothing is sold to you from this page, and nothing is sold on it either.
  • No forms. There is nowhere on this site to type your name or your email, except plain email links, the kind that just open your own mail app.
  • No fonts, images or video from anywhere else. The typefaces, the pictures and the background video are all files on this site. The satellite imagery in the video is public imagery, processed by us.
  • No mailing list. There is nobody to send an update to, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
  • No shop. This website has no prices and no checkout.
  • Two third parties, and both are named. Cloudflare hosts this site and sees requests the way any host does. Email sent to any address here is hosted by Microsoft 365. That is the entire list, on the privacy page.

What our own code does

This site runs one small script of its own, on the home page only. Here it is and what it does.

  • /js/hero.js: decides whether the home page loads its background video. It does so only when the screen is tablet width or wider, the browser has not asked for reduced motion, and data saving is not on. Otherwise the still image stays and no video is requested.

It reads those three settings of your own browser and nothing else. It uses no cookies and no browser storage, it reads nothing you type, and it sends nothing anywhere. The only thing it causes is your browser asking this site for the video file.

What changed

Earlier versions of this site said it ran no JavaScript at all. That is no longer true. What is true now is the list above, and the privacy policy says the same.

Go check it yourself

None of this is worth much as a claim on a page, so go look. Right-click anywhere on this site and choose View Page Source. Every script tag points at a file on this site, and none carries code written inline in the page. Open your browser's developer tools, look at the Network tab, and reload: every request goes to this site. Read the privacy policy and see the same claims written the way a policy writes them.

If you find something on this site that is not on this list, or something on this list that turns out not to be true, we would like to know. Tell us at hello@summerfieldtech.com. For a security problem, use Report a vulnerability.
